Andrew and Annedria Beckham are the owners of Beckham Estate Vineyard in Sherwood, Oregon, where Andrew is the winemaker. Unique to Beckham Estate Vineyard, Andrew Beckham blends his two passions, wine and art, by making his own amphorae. Amphorae are terra cotta vessels used to store wine while it ages, an ancient tradition of winemaking thought to originate in the Republic of Georgia.
These interviews are oral histories conducted by Linfield College Archives staff Rich Schmidt and archivist Rachael Woody with Andrew and Annedria Beckham. The interviews took place at Beckham Estate Vineyard and Union Wine Co. on March 24, 2015 and covered topics including the Beckhams’ creation and use of amphorae, relationships with established winemakers, and observations on how the industry has changed in the ten years since they became involved.
