Gregory Theim and his father opened Gregory’s International, a gourmet food and wine shop at the newly designed Water Tower in Johns Landing in the early 1970s. In addition to featuring international foods and gourmet cheese, the family wanted to focus on wine, specifically wine from the nascent Oregon industry. Today we joined Hopper Canty at @negociantpdx to hear about how he ended up at what has become the “neighborhood wine café” on the corner of Irving and 21st in Portland. Chris Luby was working as an insurance underwriter when a belated honeymoon to Napa - specifically Chandon - sparked an interest in wine that eventually led to a quarter-century career in production. As September starts and Linfield begins another school year, we’d like to pause to look back on another successful summer of wine interviews. Zach Mance of @sidereuswinery believes wine is an adventure. Skip & Ruth Tarr of @sidereuswinery were looking for a property in the country and ended up purchasing a vineyard.
