Tom Mortimer, proprietor and founder of Le Cadeau Vineyard, first planted roots in Oregon in 1997, and set out to make the best wine possible on some of the rockiest land in the Willamette Valley. He wasn’t shy about asking established growers for best practices, but also decided to put his own spin on his plantings - for example, using the metric system to measure distance between rows because “the vines were French.”
